Mount Edgcumbe present so many photo opportunities. Here is just a small selection of the 70 photos that I took! More may follow soon. The first photo is my favourite, combining modern Plymouth with older Plymouth, and its maratime history. Looking out on to The Hoe.

Daily Photos - Sat 28 Apr

Just adding a few photos to keep things fresh! Went in to Plymouth today to see a steam train. I go nearly every time there's one down here! But these were extra good shots today!

For anyone interested this was the 5043 Earl of Mount Edgecumbe and I also have another railway photo >already on the blog< featuring the 60163 Tornado. :)

My second favourite railway photo I've taken; and I've taken quite a few! I thought the sepia added an aged effect. I didn't like the greyness of the concrete bridge either. I love the composition and how the train emerges from the steam gathered under the bridge making the busy station background invisible in this particular shot.

I know it's not nature but it's one of my favourite photos! The Tornado arriving in Plymouth. The latest steam locomotive to be built. I would add different photos but most of them are in sets and I want to post them together in proper posts rather than daily photos; I try to save those for the single photos.

I won't be posting a lot today because I have a fair amount of schoolwork.


Today at 13:20 our Geography class, 6 of us (!), went on a mini field trip to Plymouth - just across the river from school. Freezing cold winds didn't make it much fun. The temperature was 4 degrees at the highest today, even though the sun was bright and the sky, clear. We were looking at urban regeneration. Different parts of the city that had been upgraded or neglected and compared where the areas were/how close to the touristy parts etc, but I digress.


We ended up at the old army barracks by Millbay Docks; Napoleonic I believe. These old buildings had been refurbished into restaurants, a bakery, and a gallery. We walked by the river with a fabulous view of Mount Edgcumbe Estate and a late afternoon haze. Y'know, that mauve/lilac sky just above the horizon. I don't think the photos really do it justice. The sun looked perfect, so I whipped out my iPhone and took some snaps.
